My favorite movie of 2008 was Slumdog Millionaire.
It tells the story of a boy growing up in the slums of Mumbai, so there are the horrors and miseries that you would expect in the life of an orphan growing up on the streets, and they are as heartbreaking and tragic as they could possibly be, seen through the luminous eyes of the little boy who knows no other life. I was profoundly moved by the spirit of the main character, of his unwavering determination, and of his utter faith in what he believed to be true. It was a hopeful story of human resilience amid the inhumanity inherent in places where people struggle every day just to survive, and it was told in a completely original way. It’s not often that you can watch a movie that tells an age-old story in a brand new way.

the book , Q&A, is one of my all time favourites. i hope the movie is as good. First time author too!
I’d just like to second the praise for both the film and the book on which it’s based. All the praise is well-deserved in my opinion. Feel free to visit my blog, on Vikas Swarup and other Ampersand writers, to read and comment!
