hahahaha. Tell me about it.
Mom = dishes, responsibility, bed-making, and finding stuff to do by themselves.
Dad = outings, shopping, excursions, visiting, non-stop activity and no responsibilities.
:/
The same story is playing out in our house too… boys come home in 2 days, and part of me wishes and wishes I could be the fun holiday parent with the money… that they would plan seeing me for months ahead and zing because I’m near. but I guess I get the unfolding detail of the everyday, the lingering touch of uncountable hugs – the twofold blessing of commitment. There are days it feels a little flat!
Sometimes it burns being the solid, responsible one.
First a week with Dad–desperately trying to help him recapture his youth. Run off our feet trying to get him to praise our efforts. Races, races, races. Swimming, kayaking, sailing, fishing and tubing…….
Then a week with Mom
I can finish my book, bake a cake, play with the neighbourhood kids, go for a leisurely walk to the bookstore-
Maybe even cut the lawn. Maybe even relax…
ahhhhhh
I hadn’t really thought of it that way G, but you’ve probably right. I suppose that sometimes, less is more?
