Today is the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. What were you doing on this day 20 years ago?
I was:
- Turning 21. It was my birthday.
- Only vaguely aware of the world outside of my own little head. Not much that happened in the news/in politics/anywhere that I wasn’t made it into my consciousness, but I do remember The Fall of the Wall. I sent a congratulations card to my relatives in Germany.

Happy birthday for today, hope your 4 spoil you with affection!
I must have been first year at uni, horribly self absorbed, and barely registered the Wall coming down… my best friend visited her family there soon after and brought back pieces for me. Now they sit on the bookshelf, softly singing of humanity and gratitude. Somehow, as the years flick by, history seems to become more real, more relevant.
To be honest no memory of where I was. Blurry days.
Happy birthday though.
I miss seeig you and hope we can get together soon. I wish you all the best in your happiness and health for this year.
Love
M
sounds like i’m not the only one who was in a bit of a haze back then…
thanks for the birthday wishes….i had a great day…the kids did spoil me, and so did some friends…i couldn’t have been more loved.
I was in grade 5! Yikes! I remember it coming down, and asking my dad why it was such a big deal.
Then I probably went and bugged my sister for clothes, ha!
oops, lame-o here. Happy (belated) Birthday!
thanks!!
