Tee got a half-sized guitar yesterday. It was very exciting. All day today I heard the countdown. 4 hours and 37 minutes till my guitar lesson. etc. etc. He’s been asking for guitar lessons for years. He was forced into piano lessons because the older two were taking them, and it was convenient for me to take all three to one place in one fell swoop. This year I promised him he could learn guitar.
Here’s a picture of actual lesson #1.
Check out Jay paying full attention.
The guitar teacher is great, and his studio is only a few blocks from our house, which I love. It’s also a short walk to our local coffee shop, so after the lesson was over, we went there for a celebratory hot chocolate.
Yay! I’m so excited for Tee! I can’t wait to hear about his guitar playing as time goes on. How wonderful that he’s so enthusiastic!
Out of curiosity, is he using steel or nylon strings?
As far as I can tell, by looking at the guitar, half of the strings are steel and half are nylon. I’ll ask the teacher next week. I’m curious now!
I just remembered to check back here and see if you had the answer. I’ll look forward to hearing it. Gabe wants to play guitar but whenever we work on it his fingers get sore RIGHT away. I am thinking that nylon strings would make it easier on his fingers until he builds up callouses.
Sorry Angie, I forgot to ask. I’ll ask next guitar lesson, and also ask the teacher’s advice on tender fingers.
